San Juan Hotels Pre Dec. 2nd Cruise

Windstar Cruises - boards.cruisecritic.com
We are booked on the Dec. 2nd trip out of San Juan. We booked air to arrive on Friday (day before departure) and a room at the Ritz Carlton. The Ritz is now closed until next summer. We just re-booked at the Vanderbilt Condado. I called the hotel directly and they said that they never had to close due to the hurricane. A little concerned as they are on the same side of the island as the Ritz and don't know if the hotel is truly up and running. And from what I have heard, the airport is still day to day as to how many flights are getting in and out. We too tried to cancel with Windstar- offered to take future cruise credit- but were told we could cancel for a total loss or take the cruise as booked. We are ok with the new itinerary but truly don't know if the San Juan leg of the journey will work out. We feel so badly for all the islands affected, and while they depend on tourism dollars, don't want to be any kind of a burden to an already fragile situation. Is anyone else nervous about getting to/from SJU and the condition of the hotels?
