Is it just carnival or is it the industry as a whole or something else?

Cruise Blogs & Websites - boards.cruisecritic.com
We have been on princess and carnival for about 15 years, we are two cruises away from being platinum. We just took our first Cruise without the kids now that they were in college. It was out of New Orleans on the Dream which we have been on twice before out of Florida years ago. We are from Virginia and very laid-back it in no way slobs. That said, our cruise mates pretty much all looked like they JUST came out of the bass pro shop or Walmart. I had never seen so many unhealthy looking people with Head to toe tattoos or camo hats in my life. I know that sounds bad but it is what it is and not what we have seen in the past. Being outgoing and open-minded people we tried to be Friendly with everyone because to be honest a lot of people look like our in-laws... but is soon as we mentioned with that we were from Virginia it was like we did on Mic drop. I mean it was crickets we were the only Virginians or East Coast travelers on the entire ship best I can tell and for some odd reason people just didn?t want to talk to us which is way outside of our normal experience cruising. Maybe it?s just because this was a deep South Port full of midwesterners but we felt that we were being profiled as coastal elite from a blue state honestly I have no idea but they just weren?t friendly and they certainly weren?t relatable to us at any level. This is the first time we come back from the cruise not having made new friends and feeling like we wasted our money. Now we are left wondering is it the cruise line is it the Debarkation port or is it the industry as a whole? because now we no longer have a burning desire to get on the ship for strangers, In fact this experience left us never wanted to cruise again
