Illegal refugees from USA - a legal issue or humanitarian?

Canada Forum - Relocation, Moving, Local City Discussions - City-Data Forum - www.city-data.com
I do empathize with the Canadian residents who reside at/near the crossing locations. The small towns do not have the resources to welcome them but do so anyway as best they can with help from humanitarian associations, Canadian-style. As well, I can understand citizens are concerned of the possibility that criminals might gain entrance and wreak havoc.

But I don't think criminal elements are going to trudge freezing through deep Dakotan snow into one of the worst Canadian winters on record while improperly clothed for it just to lose hands, feet, fingers or toes to frostbite. This is a journey of desperation. Image the fear that led these families here not knowing if they will live through it, be left in the snow at the border, or taken in, or sent back to endure their fear of another kind.

These are highly unusual and frightening times since Trump took office.

What's your Canadian take on this?
