Bankrate...ID fourth best place to retire

Idaho Forum - Relocation, Moving, Local City Discussions - City-Data Forum - www.city-data.com
Not sure how they come to have CO and UT as number two and three.

CO has high property values in most of the cities I researched, and I lived in UT for six years and in most cities property taxes were high as well as general cost of living, and as for a retiree, Colorado and Utah both fully tax social security benefits. Idaho does not!

Sunshine and healthy living; I would agree that could give CO and especially southern UT the one up on ID.

But after my months and months research and talking with friends, I went with ID when I retired and my four things were:

Cost of living low...

Does not tax social security benefits (they can tax my retirement benefits)

Close to high mountain camping areas with pine forests....

Close to amenities such as stores, decent medical care (if needed)
