Lofts in Downtown Topeka

Kansas Forum - Relocation, Moving, Local City Discussions - City-Data Forum - www.city-data.com
Just curious -- a viable option for a single person? Is it more than, e.g., a beautifully renovated old factory or two at the end of a dead-end street, etc.? A lot of cities are converting their older buildings to residential loft spaces but it takes more than the building itself to make it a viable option for those of us who aren't adventurous bohemians -- the area usually has to be kind of pedestrian with shops and services in order to feel like you aren't living in a ghost town after dark.

Open-ended. Any and all thoughts/views are appreciated.
