Poor contractor job (laminate floor installation) - what do I do?

New Jersey Forum - Relocation, Moving, Local City Discussions - City-Data Forum - www.city-data.com
We recently had laminate flooring installed in a few rooms. There is considerable bouncing and squeaking in some parts of the room. We showed this to the installer but he said it is normal for the floor to bounce as it is a floating floor and that he is not responsible for fixing any sub-floor leveling. Though I agree that floating floors do bounce, in some parts of the room it bounces as much as a quarter of an inch.

The installer denies to fix it. I haven't paid him yet but I want to be fair in the transaction. I want my floor fixed. If he won't fix it, I will get another installer to fix it and cut the payment by the amount I spend on re-doing the floor.

What do you think? I plan on reporting him to the BBB.
