NJ Pension System Question/Predicament

New Jersey Forum - Relocation, Moving, Local City Discussions - City-Data Forum - www.city-data.com
I am a school teacher with 9 years of service. One more year I will be vested into the Pension System (TPAF), but given the fiscal problems of this state I've been questioning whether it is worth staying and gambling with my retirement. Teachers in this state have a great deal where after 25 years of service, they get health care for the rest of their life. I'm young, 30 years old, and have been itching to get out of the state for a while because cost of living is too damn high.

I wanted to see what the board thought about sticking in NJ given the financial problems with the pension system. Is it worth getting out now before you are "too into the system" or is it better to stay put and ride it out. I'm torn because my family and my wifes are in NJ, but we have such mixed feelings.

It's amazing to see how much further your money can go outside of NJ...especially in Delaware!!
