Connection in Auckland Airport

Air Travel Forum - TripAdvisor - www.tripadvisor.com
First time booking connecting flights, so pardon my ignorance....

I have booked a domestic flight from Queenstown (NZ) to Auckland, and an international flight from Auckland to Singapore. Booked on the same ticket but the flights are operated by different carriers. The airline has confirmed that my luggage can be checked through to my final destination.

So how exactly do connections work? I presume I can collect boarding passes for both segments of my flights in Queenstown airport? After arrival in Auckland domestic airport, I will take a inter-terminal bus to the international terminal. What happens next? I can proceed immediately to the departures area (for normal security screening etc), or do I have to "report" to a check in counter or transfer desk first?

Thank you.
