Hotel, May 15-20, about $250/night inc tax

New York City Forum, Travel Discussion for New York City - TripAdvisor - www.tripadvisor.com
I'm looking for a hotel, preferably under $250/night inc. tax. (though at a push I could stretch to maybe $280). I'll be working in West 20 Street, so within say 1.5 miles walk of there would be ideal...though a couple of miles would be OK if needs-be. I'd like a private bathroom, and to avoid a pod/cupboard style room (I'll be working a bit in the room).

I'm aware the budget's tight for this time of year. Best I've found for slightly under budget is the Cosmopolitan Tribecca - Hotel looks OK, but a bit further from West 20 St than ideal (though looks close-ish to Lower East Side, which will be nice in the evening). Any better suggestions would be great
