Best croissant in Paris?

Paris Forum, Travel Discussion for Paris - TripAdvisor - www.tripadvisor.com
Does any Paris expert or local know of the best or truly excellent croissant place? I am dreaming of the perfect croissant, flaky like it has a dozen layers, buttery, and impossible to eat without making a huge mess. I had one such a masterpiece in Germany of all places, and now that I am in Paris I feel like it is a reasonable quest. We are staying near the Tuileries Garden and am willing to take the Metro. We have two more mornings left in Paris; but so far all the croissants at local shops that we've tried have been good but not flaky and buttery like mentioned above. Thanks in advance for any help!
