Final itinerary help - # of days in Rome?
This forum has been such an amazing help with me planning. I literally could not have done it without you guys! I have a really good outline of my trip - see below:
Sept 30 - I arrive in Rome at 6pm. Refreshed from amazing Turkish Air First Class international. :) I'll be Staying in Rome near the train station overnight.
Oct 1 - Early AM train to Florence, spend full afternoon/evening in Florence.
Oct 2 - Florence all day
Oct 3 - Drive from Florence to Tuscan village (exact village TBD but likely somewhere close to Siena - just not right in the town)
Oct 4 - Tuscany
Oct 5 - Tuscany
Oct 6 - Tuscany
Oct 7 - Tuscany
Oct 8 - Drive from Tuscany to Rome. Drop off car somewhere, get to Rome hotel.
Oct 9 - Rome
Oct 10 - Rome
October 11 - I leave Rome at Noon so this day is a write-off with early trip to the airport.
So... my question is about my return to Rome. I really want some time in Tuscany. But I also want time in Rome. Do I....
A) Stick with the above, leave on Day 8, making sure I'm up and gone early AM, hitting Rome by Noon or so, which would mean I would have the back half of the afternoon + evening in Rome still by the time I get settled at the hotel. This gives me this time + 3 more full days in Rome.
B) Do I leave Tuscany on Day 7 so I have 4 full days in Rome. I don't want to be arriving by car to Rome in the dark while driving alone, so I'd need to arrive by late afternoon, and assuming it's 2-3 hours from wherever I am in Tuscany + car rental drop off + get to hotel (near Piazza Novana) that would cut day #7 in half in Tuscany.
Reminder, I'll be alone on this trip, if that makes anyone's recommendations any different. And first time to Italy.
