Outbreak of the plague in Madagascar

The G Adventures Watering Hole - Travel Forum • View forum - Africa and Middle East - wateringhole.gadventures.com
I'm heading to Madagascar in a couple of weeks.

Just wondering if anyone is bringing their own antibiotics given the growing outbreak of the pneumonic plague. I know the WHO has delivered a large quantity of antibiotics recently but wonder if there is enough. I called my travel doctor's office and they said they wouldn't prescribe something to bring. Just wondering if that was anyone else's experience. I was a bit surprised they wouldn't prescribe them for me since it seems to be easily treatable by antibiotics that are easy to get here - with the hope I'd never need to use them.
