Is it never acceptable to call Ole Miss "Mississippi"?

Mississippi Forum - Relocation, Moving, Local City Discussions - City-Data Forum - www.city-data.com
I notice that all sports media now lists the University of Mississippi as being "Ole Miss". I'm not suggesting that that hasn't been the preferred name for the university, but in the past, "Mississippi" was used in print and electronic media. Now it's only "Ole Miss"....am I right that this has just happened repellent? and am I right that "Mississippi" is never used anymore for the university?
