Are you coming to Kenya?
I figured I open a thread about concerns - First time travellers - to Kenya might be worried about. I am here willing to assist and give top tips about the 'Dos and Don'ts' while you are in beautiful Kenya.
Kenya is safe but like any other country unfortunate situations happen only if you are ignorant and have no interpersonal skills. A good fighter knows the battles to pick and which ones to let go. For instance do not argue with police in Kenya especially if you are in the wrong or if they have stopped you for whatever reasons applicable to them. Keep your cool and be respectful even if they seem to be harassing you or something similar.
I have been fortunate to travel to some countries/continents but I am yet to get to perhaps 20% if we go by 'Travebuddy Map', I am at a measly 4% but I am optimistic more opportunities will come.
So yeah, be mindful of the police and if they imply/suggest bribes give the least amount- Whatever you thinking off right now divide by 5 or 10. Depending on the offence and your negotiation skills the amount will vary.
Do not be deterred but it is a rare occurrence with police but if you do run into them at least you have the protocol and tell them "Mimi ni mtu mzuri - Which translates to :I am a good person " it will catch them off-guard and break the ice.
For more tips say hi :-)
I hike, fly and drive to locations : Kenya is vast and beautiful - you have no idea what lies in the bush but I can show you.
