Is French Heavily Influenced By German?

Europe Forum - Relocation, Moving, Local City Discussions - City-Data Forum - www.city-data.com
I was wondering if French has a lot German influence?

They seem to sound similar in their glottal sounds.

I wonder why the French stopped pronouncing the words the way they are written whereas in Spanish and Italian, they pronounce the words the way they are written and almost all of the pronunciations between Italian and Spanish are the same, except for a few.

Is French the most branched off from Latin?
