Galapagos Celebrity Cruise - advice needed on travel to Baltra :)

Hello Cruise Critic Friends, hoping to get some wisdom from you to help with our Galapagos cruise this summer (July 2018). So we booked two rooms for our family on the Celebrity Xpedition about two years ago when the itinerary became available but didn't book anything else in terms of flights or packages at that time because we were not sure the dates would definitely work with our work schedules. We don't usually book so far out for any vacation. The Celebrity agent assured us we could always add that on later but when tried to do that now (add local air/hotel package that includes Celebrity charter flight and 3 nights hotel in Quito) it turns out that it would add more than $10,000 to our trip . So we are consider either canceling the trip or trying to do the travel on our own. Celebrity won't let us purchase seats on their charter flight to Galapagos without the full package I mentioned, so we would need to get ourselves to Baltra on our own. It seems we can buy tickets on several airlines to Baltra from either Quito or Guayaquil but of course if our flight is cancelled or delayed we could miss the boat. I assume I can buy my own trip insurance that would reimburse the cost of the cruise in such event but that would still stink because we would miss the cruise. Questions... anyone have experience flying to Baltra independently? Are these flights reliable? Are we better off arriving in Baltra a day or two early rather than spending a couple days in Quito a few days early? Any other advice?
