General question about baggage size-anyone charged extra?
Does anyone know how strict airlines are with their 158 cm (62 inch) maximum suitcase dimensions for checked baggage? Has anyone been denied for having an only-slightly too large suitcase?
I am flying to Iceland and I was about to buy a new suitcase. I decided I wanted to buy the biggest suitcase that the airlines allow. (I'm doing this today because I decided last-minute that I want to pack my little half-guitar inside my suitcase as checking it with Wow airlines would cost me $100-120).
Most airlines seem to work with a 158 cm (62 inch) standard for maximum checked bag total dimensions. However, I'm seeing a lot of suitcases available that are larger in total dimensions. (I'm looking at one that is 32" x 21" x 13.6= 66.6 (yikes)).
This suitcase I'm interested in is one of many, there are many for sale of the same size. (it's not some weird random suitcase). So I kinda think it's not going to be a big deal. But I'm wondering if anyone has been denied before? Is it considered odd-sized? (the suitcase is normal sized, just a little big) Have you been charged extra? I know there are no guarantees but I'm just wondering what actual experiences people have had.
Normally I travel light but I'm considering it an investment to get the largest allowed piece of luggage I can, for when I go on longer trips to one location.
