Jan 2017 12 night grandeur out of Baltimore
Recently returned from a 12 night cruise on grandeur of the seas. Stayed pre cruise one night at best western plus Elkridge, md booked through trinity reservation .com Bruce, great service, safe location $129 parking, breakfast, shuttle, recent renovation, clean, used pool and sauna. Would use again. Timbuktu resteraunt short drive, great crab cakes, would go again.
Check in shuttle at 9 am on ship by 11 am. Windjammer good food, did not eat there much, preferred MDR and Park Cafe in solarium.
Service at breakfast, lunch and dinner were all excellent, Leah and Austin in am
Krystina and Kenneth in pm. Some of the best service ever, including Celebrity cruises. Food was always, hot, served quickly, very good quality. Even the 2 assistant maitre des helped often. Impressive.
We are Diamond members and enjoyed the lounge, very good service, wings drinks, fellow passengers, nice lounge area.
The activities staff was decent, Shelie was outstanding, Zumba, line dancing were well attended in the centrum. Great work, unfortunately she was getting off. Kelly work out class was great but not offered enough, stretch class in am in gym was good. Not enough room, ship built before working out was so big.
CD bit of a pompous guy unless you were a regular, as many are. His loss.
Ship was well maintained very clean. Love the art work. We will be back on the Lady G again.
Ports were all good. St. Thomas took ferry from ship over to St. John's to do snorkel park which was not open because of waves. But still enjoyed the beach and rough surf. Might not do it again. Shore excursion guy needs help, was not good, or informative or friendly.
St. Kitts went to Carembola Beach club, we have our own stuff and snorkel led from shore. Reef is right there. Clean modern facility, love it. It's at other end of beach from shipwreck bar our old favorite.
Antigua took cab to beach by sandals, at sneaky Petes, great spot, nice beach to walk enjoyed surf and water.
St Lucia went to beach near airport, short distance, because it was overcast. $15 cab ride, not bad. Reasonable safe. We use to go to pigeon island, but that is a much longer, $40 each way cab ride, didn't do it because of weather.
St marten maho airport beach, had a blast, you should try it. Check it out on you tube. Nice water, surf, decent beach to walk. Very safe as many people go.
We usually do our own thing, using CC, trip advisor , yelp, beyond ships, etc.
Using cruise port tt I found that we were the only ship in all ports except for st marten which we had 3 total.
Each am my wife had Zumba, line dancing, dance workout, ball room dance, lunch and then more on each sea day, 3 on way down and 3 on way back. Very active ship if you want that.
3 different bands, great music, steel drum my fav.
50's and separate 70's dance party, great fun. Quest in South Pacific a ton of fun.
Fellow passengers the nicest, gracious people. I can't explain how nice and fun they were.
We will definitely do the G again.
Okay only negatives, assistant cruise director Dan comes on before last night late comic, and makes a f... Reference about older passengers from crew being nice. Very inappropriate. These are the salt of the earth people who worked hard saved and they paid their good money to cruise and get insulted by this little twerp. Not cool.
Also some cruise fitness group hogged indoor pool each am for hours, not right, to put off all the other passengers.
That's my only complaints, other than the WOW factor of the airealist show being advertised for this ship and it has not been on the ship for a long time.
5 different comics were great, as were all shows. Tribute to vets was nice.
Having been on Anthem January 2016, loved that ship but food and service were bad, we loved the G.
January 2015 did the Celebrit Equionox was great.
20017 Lady G was outstanding because of crew, food service, and Most Importantly the gracious fellow passengers from MD, PA, VA and as far away as WA, OR and Poland.
5 star experience, even the Captain was out and about often.
Getting off ship was a breeze, shuttle, driving home by 10 am, loved it!
