Long haul flights: check in time for hand luggage only
I haven't travelled long haul in quite a few years, since before the advent of internet ticket purchase and on-line check-in. But I've done many short haul trips UK-> Europe in that time.
For long-haul, the airlines suggest checking in a mind-boggling *three* hours before departure time.
Is this needed, if you are only carrying hand baggage?
I am presuming that one can print out boarding passes, as per short-haul flights.
Looking to travel LHR-LAX later this year.
