UA mileage vs. really good airfare
Oh, my TA friends -I am joining some friends in mid-October in France, and now I am torn. I have a very good mileage ticket on hold right now, 45,000 miles round-trip ORD to CDG and back, connecting in Newark both ways with 3.5 hours between flights both ways.
Now I am playing around, as I need to pull the trigger in the next couple of days, and I find that I can book the non-stop for the same days for $500. Booking a PE seat would of course add to that, though last year I flew to Hawaii and back in regular economy, so I can live with that if need be.
If I hadn't looked I wouldn't be torn - not made of money here, but how to pass up the $500 airfare (which of course will probably be gone tomorrow argh, and I am not sure I can farelock on both itineraries - but maybe I will try). On the other hand, I need stuff done around the house, so that $500 would be very helpful on that front.
Some thoughts please. Thanks all.
