Nigel Farage hints at 2nd Referendum over Brexit

United Kingdom Forum - Relocation, Moving, Local City Discussions - City-Data Forum - www.city-data.com
It has been widely reported in the UK media that former UKIP leader, Nigel Farage is suggesting a 2nd referendum in order to clarify once and for all Britain's relationship with the European Union.

He is doing this because, according to him, it will silence the doubters and critics who have suggested the original referendum has no legal bearing since it was not officially ratified. Moreover, critics have argued the actual referendum question was too simplistic to give a voter a fully rounded and informed decision over such a fundamental concern as Europe.

So now, Farage is implying a 2nd referendum will address these concerns. And he seems to think there will be even more of the electorate wanting to vote "leave".

Inevitably, 10 Downing Street, rejected the idea, while Labour and the Liberal Democrats have taken a more cautious approach.

Given the discussions, time and expense that have already gone into the ongoing "divorce" with the EU, it seems unlikely such a referendum will happen in the short to mid term. And there is always the concern of what would happen if such a vote was called for and the subsequent result was again marginal, but in favour of the Remainers. Would there be a call for a 3rd referendum?

Farage is taking an awful risk with his suggestion. Moreover, from a personal standpoint I would welcome such a vote and will tick the "remain" box again. And I suspect all those that didn't vote first time round - perhaps through apathy - may make their votes heard this time round.

And I don't think the end result will placate Farage at all!

Does he have a point?
