Paris - 2015 - Solidarité
Just over a week ago Paris was the scene of a terrible tragedy. I've struggled with if and how TravelBlog should respond, now that a little time has passed I hope that these sentences express collectively our sentiments.
We've all felt a tremendous amount of grief and sadness - the victims of this attack were just like us, out at concerts, restaurants or football matches, places that they felt safe. We respect and admire the way the people of Paris have responded.
We want to remember that in recent months many other terrible attacks have also happened. In Lebanon, Nigeria, Iraq, Mali, Egypt and more. A more complete list is available at Wikipedia
We have travelled collectively to every country, we have met good kind people of every nationality, religion and race. The evil people who perpetrate these attacks do not represent anyone but themselves.
We know that the vast majority of refugees fleeing places like Syria are trying to get away from violence and terror, from people that think attacks like those in Paris are justified. They are just trying to find a place where they and their families can be safe.
Stay safe on your travels.
