Paris,Lux,Brus,Brug,Amster. Eurorail pass vs point2point?

Hello,
Im hoping for some help on the whole train situation, it seems complicated from a confused Canadian. Our family of 4 intends to arrive in Paris early August, then head to Luxembourg, Brussels, Brugge (return day trip from brussels), Amsterdam, and then back to Brussels. Ive read that the eurorail passes cost more than just buying individual tickets, especially if you take into account reserving Thalys trains. Any thoughts? The Benelux-France eurorail pass is about 1200 Euro for all 4 of us (without up charge for thalys). If I am looking at fares correctly point to point tickets will be about $900 Euro (this includes Thalys). Does it sound correct that point to point cheaper? What would we be missing, is there an advantage to having the full pass, maybe like travel within cities, or between close cities for day trips perhaps? EG. Wanted to go to Versailles, maybe the train would be a good option and a rail pass would cover it. Anyways, enough rambling, any one care to take the time to comment, All the best for 2017, KEvin Read responses in tripadvisor.com |
