I just watched an episode of Diners, drive-ins and dives on the Food Channel, which, by the way is on the second floor of Chelsea Market.
The host, Guy Fieri was featuring establishments in the NYC metropolitan area - none of which I've ever seen recommended on the NYC Forum; I know why, locals want to keep these neighborhood gems to themselves.
So, if you are so inclined, I suggest you look up the Food Network site and do some research on a few of these well-kept secrets. From sandwiches, stuffed cabbage and everything in between - they offer something for everyone.
I'll let one name slip, Defonte's.........now you're on your own.
